CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

I entered the visual arts career in 2019 at the University of Chile, the faculty is divided into three different buildings in different parts of the city and in JGM it is visual arts and art theory and history.

The first year we studied drawing, volume, color, visual thinking, aesthetics and art history along with a practical workshop, which in my case was analog photography. Throughout the career we have several very interesting theoretical seminars such as art and politics, territory, hermeneutics, aesthetics, etc. From the second year you can take your main workshop, in my case painting, but there are a variety of very interesting workshops, it is something I really like about the arts at UCH, in other universities there are not so many options.

the infrastructure is not very good but you get used to it haha, the first year I remember that I was a little depressed but now I like it a lot except when it rains. Regarding the teachers, they are very good artists and are current in their areas, not all of them study pedagogy and that can be noticed a little, but most of them are excellent with their students.

things I would change

It is known that there is a shortage of money in the faculty, which is the reason for the constant demands to fix the infrastructure. I would like very much that there was only one building for all the art careers and not be divided all over Santiago, I think that way there would be a great coexistence between careers and we would learn more about other areas. I would also add a subject on the labor field and have mandatory internships as in all other careers because i feel that no one knows exactly what to do and how to proceed after graduation, also add other practical workshops more up to date with digital art, I wish there was a central workshop
